HYMN: Awake my soul and with the sun

WOV 469

1  Awake my soul and with the sun
    thy daily stage of duty run;
    shake off dull sloth, and joyful rise
    to pay thy morning sacrifice:

2  Lord, I my vows to thee renew;
    disperse my sins as morning dew;
    guard my first springs of thought and will,
    and with thyself my spirit fill.

3  Praise God, from whom all blessings flow,
    praise him, all creatures here below,
    praise him above, ye heavenly host,
    praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Prayer of praise

Lord, we give you thanks: for Your mercy and love are everlasting.
You are worthy to receive our prayers and praises,
heavenly Father, eternal Lord God.
With all the Church in heaven and on earth
we praise You for Your majesty and glory,
for your goodness and grace.
We thank you for the wonders of creation,
and for the revelation of Yourself to all people:
for your gift of life to us,
for Your mercy and grace throughout our lives,
for the joy of loving and being loved,
for all that is true and noble, all that is good and pure.

Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship You,
we give You thanks,
we praise You for Your glory.

Most merciful God, we confess to You before the whole company of heaven that we have sinned in thought, word and deed, and in what we have failed to do.  Forgive us our sins, heal us by Your Spirit and raise us to new life in Christ. Amen.

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Amen. Thanks be to God.

PRAISE SONG: Give thanks with a grateful heart

SOF 124

Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He’s given
Jesus Christ His Son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He’s given

Jesus Christ His Son.

And now let the weak say ‘I am strong’,
Let the poor say ‘I am rich’,
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
And now let the weak say ‘I am strong’,
Let the poor say ‘I am rich’,
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks.

WOV 140

Response Hymn:

Christ whose glory fills the skies

WOV 140

Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true, the only light,
sun of righteousness, arise,
triumph o’er the shades of night;
dayspring from on high, be near;
day-star, in my heart appear.

Dark and cheerless is the morn
unaccompanied by thee:
joyless is the day’s return,
till thy mercy’s beams I see,
till they inward light impart,
glad my eyes and warm my heart.

Visit then this soul of mine;
pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
fill me radiancy divine;
scatter all my unbelief;
more and more thyself display,
shining to the perfect day.

We believe and trust in God the Father
who created the universe.
We believe and trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
who has redeemed the world.
We believe in the Holy Spirit
who gives life to the people of God.

Prayer for Africa

God bless Africa.  Guard our children.

 Guide our leaders and give us peace,

for Jesus Christ’s sake.

Hear us, Father, as we continue in prayer.
We pray for Your holy catholic Church;
make us all one, so that the world may believe.
We pray that every member of the Church
may truly and humbly serve You:
grant that Your name may be glorified by all people.

Guide and strengthen all ministers of Your gospel:
make them faithful in Your service.

Inspire and lead all who govern and hold authority
in the nations of the world:
establish justice and peace among all men.

Give us courage to do Your will in all that we undertake:
reveal the life of Christ within us.

Have compassion on all who suffer from any sickness,
grief or trouble:
deliver them from their distress.

We remember those who have died:
Father, into your hands we commend them.

We praise You for all our saints who have entered
Your eternal glory:
bring us all to share in Your heavenly kingdom.

Hear us, O Lord:
Lord hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, You have promised to hear what we ask in the name of Your Son: we pray You to accept and answer our petitions, not as we ask in our ignorance, nor as we deserve in our sinfulness, but as You know and love us in Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Lords Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

WOV 480

Forth in Thy name, O Lord, I go

WOV 480

Forth in thy name, O Lord, I go,
my daily labour to pursue;
thee, only thee, resolved to know,
in all I think, or speak, or do.

The task thy wisdom hath assigned
O let me cheerfully fulfil;
in all my works thy presence find,
and prove thy good and perfect will.

Thee may I set at my right hand,
whose eyes my inmost substance see,
and labour on at thy command,
and offer all my works to thee.

Church Notice

Now unto Him

Now unto Him who is able to keep,

Able to keep you from falling,

And present you faultless

Before the presence of His glory

With exceeding joy.

To the only wise God, our Saviour,

Be glory and majesty, dominion and power,

Both now and forever.  Amen.
