In love (God) predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will, to the praise of His glorious grace.

Hymn: My heart and voice I raise

WOV 160

1 My heart and voice I raise

To spread Messiah’s praise,

Messiah’s praise let all repeat:

The universal Lord

By whose almighty word

Creation rose in form complete.

5 Hail, Saviour, Prince of Peace!

Your kingdom shall increase

Till all the world Your glory see,

And righteousness abound

As the great deep profound,

And fill the earth with purity.

Prayer of praise

Let us offer our praise to God.

Creator God, we adore You as we see all creation reflecting Your glory.  You made us in Your image and likeness.  You welcomed all those who are vulnerable with compassionate acceptance.

Redeemer, we adore You.  Sustainer, we adore You.

You breathed life into places of fear and anxiety.

You increase our understanding of things hard to comprehend and draw us into Your dance of loving joy.

We lift our voices in gratitude and praise.

God, three in one, all creation sings of Your great deeds.  Amen

Lord, we have not lived in ways that reflect Your love for all.  There are times when we have judged others with prejudice and ignorance.

We have not always lived as people assured of our place in God’s heart and have turned from Your promises.

We have not always lived as disciples of Jesus lived and have followed paths of wealth and power and have ignored the ways of justice, peace and tolerance.

We have not always lived as children of Jesus’ resurrection, forgetting God’s creative genius.

Let us in silence confess our sins.

God has heard the confession of our hearts and minds.  In Christ we are set free.  Thanks be to God.  Amen.

Praise Song: When the Spirit of the Lord

SOF 598

1. When the Spirit of the Lord is within my heart,

I will sing as David sang.

When the Spirit of the Lord is within my heart,

I will sing as David sang.

I will sing, I will sing, I will sing as David sang.

I will sing, I will sing, I will sing as David sang.

2. When the Spirit of the Lord is within my heart,

I will clap as David clapped.

When the Spirit of the Lord is within my heart,

I will clap as David clapped.

I will clap, I will clap, I will clap as David clapped.

I will clap, I will clap, I will clap as David clapped.

3. When the Spirit of the Lord is within my heart,

I will dance as David did.

When the Spirit of the Lord is within my heart,

I will praise as David praised.

I will dance, I will dance, I will dance as David danced.

I will praise, I will praise, I will praise as David praise.

Response Hymn:

O love of God, how strong and true

WOF 75

1. O love of God, how strong and true,

Eternal yet ever new,

Uncomprehended and unbought,

Beyond all knowledge and all thought!

2. O wide-embracing, wondrous love,

We read You in the sky above,

We read You in the earth below,

In seas that swell and streams that flow.

5. O love of God, our shield and stay

Through all the perils of our way;

Eternal love, in You we rest,

For ever safe, forever blest.

O Jesus, I have promised

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father.  Through Him all things were made. For us men and women and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary and was made man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried.  On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.  With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.  He was spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.  We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.  We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen

Prayer for Africa

God bless Africa.  Guard our children.

Guide our leaders and give us peace,

for Jesus Christ’s sake.

God of grace and glory, we thank you for every spiritual  blessing we have received through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who has freely given us Your grace, love and healing.  At this time of the Covid virus, compassionate Lord Jesus, we pray that Your healing love and comforting arms will surround all who are ill, anxious and hurting at this time.  Help us to support one another through our prayers to You Lord.

Heavenly Father we remember Your creation, breathed into life by God’s Holy Spirit.  We pray, Creating God, for places that have been damaged and degraded by our greed and carelessness.  Help us to live sparingly and to care for Your creation.

We remember  your Church, breathed into life by Your Holy Spirit, a community of love and compassion.  We pray that in our diversity we may all seek to be one family, no longer separated by denominations.  Help Your people to be effective witness to Your love in the world.

The Lords Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

HYMN: Lead us heavenly lead us

WOV 492

1. Lead us heavenly Father lead us

O’er the world’s tempestuous sea;

Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,

For we have no help but Thee;

Yet possessing every blessing

If our God our Father be.

2. Saviour breathe forgiveness o’er us;

All our weakness Thou dost know;

Thou didst tread this earth before us,

Thou didst feel its keenest woe:

Lone and dreary, faint and weary,

Through the desert Thou didst go.

3. Spirit of our God, descending,

Fill our hearts with heavenly joy,

Love with every passion blending,

Pleasure that can never cloy:

Thus provided, pardoned, guided,

Nothing can our peace destroy.

Now unto Him

Now unto Him who is able to keep,

Able to keep you from falling,

And present you faultless

Before the presence of His glory

With exceeding joy.

To the only wise God, our Saviour,

Be glory and majesty, dominion and power,

Both now and forever.  Amen.
