I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
Ephesians 3 : 16 – 17
Hymn: When morning gilds the skies WOV 151
1 When morning gilds the skies,
My heart awakening cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer
to Jesus I repair:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
3 Let earth’s wide circle round
In joyful notes resound:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let air and sea and sky,
From depth to height reply:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
5 Be this while life is mine,
My canticle divine,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this the eternal song
Through all the ages long,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Prayer of praise
Heavenly Father, eternal God, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You are worthy to receive our prayers and praises. No-one is like You; You are great and Your name is mighty in power. Let everything that has breath praise You. Praise the Lord.
We praise and thank you that You so love the world that You sent Your Son to be our Saviour and that all who believe in Him, will have eternal life.
We thank you for the gift of Your Holy Spirit and his presence and work creating the fellowship within the family of the Church and for His work in spreading the gospel of Jesus throughout the world.
We offer ourselves to be a living sacrifice in Your service, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Most merciful Father, we confess to You before the whole company of heaven that we have sinned in thought, word and deed, and in what we have failed to do. Forgive us our sins, heal us by Your Spirit and raise us to new life in Christ Jesus. Amen.
If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Amen. Thanks be to God.
Amen.
Old Testament:
Epistle:
Praise Song : We bring the sacrifice of praise
SOF 574
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord,
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord.
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of joy.
Homily - Rev Peter Witbooi
Response Hymn:
Give me the faith which can remove
WOV 479
1 Give me the faith which can remove
And sink the mountain to a plain;
Give me the childlike praying love,
Which longs to build Thy house again;
Thy love, let it my heart o’erpower
And all my simple soul devour.
2 I would the precious time redeem,
And longer live for this alone,
To spend, and to be spent, for them
Who have not yet my Saviour known;
Fully on these my mission prove,
And only breathe, to breathe Thy love.
3 My talents, gifts and graces, Lord,
Into Thy blessed hands receive;
And let me live to preach Thy word,
My every sacred moment spend
In Publishing the sinner’s Friend.
4 Enlarge, inflame, and fill my heart
With boundless charity divine:
So shall I all my strength exert,
And love them with a zeal like Thine;
And lead them to Thy open side,
The sheep for whom their shepherd died.
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
We believe and trust in God the Father who created the universe.
We believe and trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who has redeemed the World.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who gives life to the people of God. Amen.
Prayers:
God bless Africa. Guard our children.
Guide our leaders and give us peace,
for Jesus Christ’s sake.
Heavenly Father we pray for Your Holy Church, may we all be one so that the world may believe. May each member truly and humbly serve You so that Your name may be glorified. Inspire, protect and strengthen all ministers of Your Word, especially Rev Peter and Prof Masango.
Direct and guide who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world, so that justice, integrity and peace may rule among all men.
Give us courage to do Your will and to reveal the message of Christ by the way we live our lives.
Have compassion on all who suffer from any sickness, especially those suffering from the covid virus. We pray for those who suffer from abuse or addiction, those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. We pray at this time, for all who have inadequate protection from the cold. We pray Lord Jesus that You will surround them all with Your loving, comforting and healing arms.
We remember in Your presence all those who have died, giving thanks for those who showed us Your grace. We commend them into Your eternal hands.
Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
Fill us all with the spirit of love that we may be more true to You, Jesus, who loved us and gave Yourself for us. Lord Jesus, light of the world, open our eyes to see You in each person we encounter.
May we go in peace to love and serve You Lord. Amen.
Hymn: Rejoice, the Lord is King;
WOV 147
1 Rejoice, the Lord is King;
Your Lord and King adore;
Mortals give thanks, and sing,
And triumph evermore:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice.
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
3 His kingdom cannot fail,
He rules o’er earth and heaven;
The keys of death and hell
Are to our Jesus given.
5 Rejoice in glorious hope;
Jesus the judge shall come,
And take his servants up
To their eternal home:
We soon shall hear the archangel’ voice; the trump of God shall sound, Rejoice!
Church Notice
Now unto Him who is able to keep,
Able to keep you from falling,
And present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory
With exceeding joy.
To the only wise God, our Saviour,
Be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
Both now and forever. Amen.
