But the (Lord) said to me,

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.

 2 Corinthians 12 : 9a

Reading:

Psalm 23

When we go through worrying or difficult times, when we feel doom and gloom descend on us and we become anxious, our anchor continues to be our Lord Jesus, who, in the worst storms supplied us with a great lifebelt, FAITH.

When life threatens to overwhelm us, we should not do what a drowning person tends to do, that is struggles and fights the water with their own strength, but we should lay our lives in God’s omnipotent, saving hands.  Then we will find peace in the storm and peace creates power, which gives us courage and the ability to persevere.

What seemed to be the biggest disaster in all history, occurred when Jesus, the Son of God, was nailed to a cross and died, but all the evil was nullified when He rose triumphantly from the grave conquering sin, evil and death.

When in our darkest moments, consider the wonder of God.  He reigns over everything.  As we gradually learn to accept this, we will discover a new strength within ourselves, knowing that He is constantly present in our lives.

“ Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.”

 Psalm 55:22

Prayer:

Lord God as we picture the quiet stream, with the waters rippling by and the trees on the banks, as described in Psalm 23, we thank you for Your peace.  We look at the trees whose roots sink deep into the ground on the banks of the stream, let us feel the strength of those roots as they sink deep into Your grace.  Let us feed on Your word and so gather the strength and support of Your love for each one of us, so that fear and anxiety will not overwhelm us.

We praise Your Holy Name, Lord Jesus.

 Amen
