What good does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6: 8b
READING: Psalm 15
Both in the reading from the Psalm and from Micah the question is asked, “What does the Lord require us,” considering that God, through Jesus, calls us first. At first glance, it appears relatively easy to act justly, but we could not do it our own. In the Lord’s prayer, which we all say, we pray, “May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”(Matthew 6 : 10) Our first act is to comply with Jesus’ call for justice, should pray about it. The second way towards justice in and by our lives, is what the prophet Micah said and that is “to love our neighbour and to walk humbly with our Lord.” How can we walk humbly with our God without considering what is happening in the world around us and in our own country, all the violence, hatred, dishonesty, greed, the problems which exist in the supply of basic needs for all people. We can and should learn from the life of Jesus. God’s faithfulness is expressed ultimately through Jesus dying on the cross. It embodies justice, mercy, and humility. Through Jesus’ resurrection we have the invitation to share in His courage, His Humility and His mercy and above all His Love and faithfulness for us. Jesus promised to be with us always and forever.
The psalmist asks who is worthy enough to be in our Lord’s sanctuary. Are we really blameless on all levels? Do we always speak the truth from our hearts? Who really loves his neighbour according to Jesus’ great love for us? Do we ‘skinner’ about our neighbour behind his back? Who is honest in all his dealings? Praise the Lord Jesus with His help, we can strive to act more appropriately on all these levels!

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we praise and thank You for Your guiding light, Your Word, and Your great Love for Your people, who you have called to be Your servants. May we live our lives according to Your call and be Your witness to others so that they may see the light of Your love and be drawn to You. Amen
