Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will obey what I command. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counsellor, --- the Spirit of truth. John 14: 15-17a
READING: John 14: 15-21
Jesus makes a promise to His disciples and to us before His torture, death on the cross and His resurrection. There is a condition to it, the role we should play. He promises the Holy Spirit who will live within us and be with us guiding our lives according to Jesus’ teaching and His resurrection. He says the world will not know the Holy Spirit, nor see Him, but we will. Jesus further promises that although He has gone to live with the Father, He still lives and we will also live. We will learn that Jesus is in the Father, we will live in Jesus, and He will live in us. (vs 20) A sign that we are people who love Jesus, is that we know and obey His commandments and teaching. If we love Jesus we will be loved also by our Father God, and Jesus will also love us and reveal Himself to us.
If we are truly seeking to know Jesus and His desires for our lives, we should remember that Jesus’ resurrection is the crux of our Faith. If we focus on Jesus’ teaching and revelations and His truth and His resurrection we will find this truth, as revealed in His Word, there will be a change in our lives and we will be sanctified, that is set apart. Then our faith should be strong even in challenging times. The Holy Spirit works through us to teach and guide us and He will use our words and our changed way of life to make others interested in things about Jesus. When we obey Jesus’ commands, people will notice there is a difference in our lives. If they ask us why we have changed, we can respond as the blind man did whom Jesus had given him his sight, “ I was spiritually blind and now I see.” (John 9 : 11) Remember we don’t have to know all the answers to every question to speak about Jesus and His word in Scripture. We can answer that through faith in Jesus, we know we have been forgiven and made part of God’s family.

Prayer
Lord Jesus help us to depend on Your Holy Spirit to do Your work through our lives in our communities. Help us to seek Your guidance and support as we share Your gifts to us, with others. May Your Holy Name be glorified through our lives. Amen
