Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Ephesians 1: 3
READING: John 1: 1-5 + 10-14
He came to reveal God to us. We would know nothing of God if He had not revealed Himself to us through Jesus. He reveals God to us through the wonders of creation and in the messages from God which He brought us and through the example of the His life and teaching. Jesus said to Philip on the night before He died, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14: 9.) Paul describes Jesus as , “He is the image of the invisible God.” (Colossians 1: 15.) John writes, ”Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God,” (vs. 12) and he witnesses, “We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father. Full of grace and truth.” (vs. 14b). Jesus says of Himself, “I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5: 32) God longs for us sinners to return to Him. Jesus revealed Himself through His great love for the outcasts, the people with leprosy, those in need, both spiritually and physically sick, especially the ordinary people He encountered along the way. His compassionate love was expressed through supernatural healing and deliverance. John declared, “ God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the World to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3: 16 – 17) God was willing to sacrifice His dearly beloved Son in order to bring us wayward humans back into His fold. Praise our heavenly Father for His great love for us!
