Just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.  Colossians 2: 6-7

READING: Colossians 1: 15-20 The Supremacy of Christ

This is one of my favourite passages which describes the very essence of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God.  He is in every way like God.  he is God!  As John 1 : 1 describes Him, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  Both readings describe Jesus as being there from the very beginning of time, not just from the time He was conceived miraculously in the womb of Mary.  Jesus was there creating the world and the heavens from the very beginning.  He holds everything, I mean everything, together.  He is the leader and head of the Body of the Church universal.  Through His resurrection from the dead, He became the firstborn from the dead, so that even in death he holds everything in supremacy.  God was pleased that Jesus was all God and came to the earth according to His will and pleasure and according to His great Love for the world.  Through Jesus Christ, God fulfilled His will to reconcile everything He had and was creating to Himself, on the earth and in heaven.  And all this to fulfill His great love for all creation and hence making peace with all through the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. Hallelujah!

“There is a Redeemer, Jesus, God’s own Son, precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy One.  Thank you, O My Father, for giving us Your Son, and leaving Your Spirit till the work on earth is done.”  SOF 544

Prayer

Lord Jesus, “Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Saviour, and my hope is in You all day long.” We pray this in Your precious Name.  Amen (Psalm 25 : 4 – 5)
