I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Ephesians 3: 17b-18
READING: Romans 8: 38-39 and 1 John 4: 10-11
At this Easter time we consider how great the love of the Father, who sent His only Son, Jesus, to suffer and to die for our salvation. Not only that but Jesus conquered death by rising from the dead, all for the forgiveness of our sins! The directive from God was if His Love was so great then we ought to love one another. Paul was totally convinced that NOTHING in all creation can separate us from this almighty love of God. Paul also said that if he had the gifts of speech, prophecy, and knowledge, but lacked love, then all those gifts were worth nothing.
These are all amazing statements by the early apostles, as recorded in the New Testament. Jesus, as recorded in the Book of John 13 :34 – 35, commanded us to love one another as He has loved us. This love makes it possible to continue Jesus’ ministry to His disciples. He served them and cared for them, He listen to them when they shared their triumphs and failures,
He taught and explained to them the scriptures. Jesus then asks of us a generosity of love for those with whom we come in contact.
It is a fact that both the receiver and the giver are rewarded with Jesus’ love.

Prayer
Help us Lord to understand the greatness of Your love. Give us strength and direction that we may continue Your great works of love that You showed us through Jesus, so that through Him, You may be glorified. Amen
