Devotion 29 April 2026

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14: 6

READING: John 14: 9-14

Our first big hurdle is when we start to believe in Jesus is the fact that God is in Jesus and Jesus is in God.  So, knowing Jesus gives us a visible proof of the existence of God the Father.  All the words and thoughts of Jesus are God’s thoughts and words.  Jesus came into this world as a living image of God.   As a new believer we are chosen by God to be sanctified, that is set apart for God’s purposes and to continue Jesus’ ministry in the world.  Those who trust Christ as Saviour and allow the Holy Spirit to control their lives are being sanctified.  The disciple Peter in his first letter describes us Christians as, “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2 : 9)  Jesus calls us to be a royal priesthood, which is people set apart for the service of God, a people called to sing the praises of God, through thought, word, and deed. Christ has reconciled us to God so we can become His children and children of the Light of Christ.  We in turn are strengthened by God and He provides all that we need, not necessary what we want, through prayer, studying and meditating on His life and ministry as found in our Bibles and most importantly through humbly sharing Jesus’ love with others.   As Christians we understand that Jesus’ life and sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection opens the gate for the forgiveness of our sins.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father, Thou changes not, Thy compassions, they fail not. – Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided, great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!  Amen (from SOF 147)
