In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.
Psalm 18:6
READING: 2 Kings 20
“This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” (2 Kings 20:1)
"...And Hezekiah wept bitterly."
How do we pray when we’ve received bad news?
When we look at our lives and the only consistencies are terrible events beyond our control, there is a prayer we can utilize, and it starts with two words; “Remember me.”
Our situations can male us feel like we’re forgotten by God. Thankfully, God is very clear on how He feels about us. He loves us!
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.” - Lamentations 3:22–23:
God is with us and aware of what is going on in our lives.
And even if we can’t state like Hezekiah that we’ve “walked faithfully”, we still have the opportunity to pray and ask God to remember us.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8
In every aspect of our lives, we can cry out to God and ask Him to remember us.
How do we respond to God in difficult times? Do we complain and curse? Do we hold fast to our faith?
Because of what King Hezekiah prayed, God’s report changed.
“Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: ‘Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, “This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.”‘ (2 King’s 20:4–5)
God heard King Hezekiah’s prayer, and He’ll hear yours.

Prayer
Dear Lord, I acknowledge You as my Lord and Saviour.
Remember me Lord, just as You heard and remembered
the prayer of King Hezekiah.
Help me not to allow difficult times to cloud my vision of You
and what You’re doing in my life.
Help me trust You.
In Jesus name I pray in gratitude,
Amen.
