Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6
READING: Psalm 119: 105 + Colossians 3: 15-17 + James 3: 17
There are many times when we need guidance as to what we should be doing. I find the reading from Psalm 119 : 105 a clear directive from our Lord. God’s Word, which we find in the Bible, is a perfect way for us to see what God wants from us in the way we lead and live our lives. Yes, as the Psalm says, it is a light to direct the way we should go and how we should do things. In James 1 : 5 – 6 we read, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault. ---- When he asks, he must believe and not doubt.” While in James 3 : 17 the author describes what God’s wisdom or guidance is like, it is pure, peace-loving, considerate, impartial, and sincere. We also read about Jesus’ teaching about the Holy Spirit in John 16 :13, “ When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.” Verse 14, “He will bring glory to Me.”
We read in many places in the Gospels about Jesus spending time in prayer with our Father God. I’m sure He had to ask for guidance and direction for His ongoing teaching, to the crowds and to His disciples. When we seek Jesus’ advice in prayer, we can be sure it will direct us along a path which we can follow with a clear conscience. As we seek Jesus’ advice, we will also build our relationship with Him. If we walk our paths of life in the light of God, and strive to follow His advice, we will experience an assuredness in and joy in our achievements.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we thank you that we able to seek Your advice and direction through reading the Bible and by prayer. Teach us and show us how to follow Your will for our lives, that we may bring honour and praise to You. Amen.
