May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. ---- The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5: 23a + 24
READING: 2 Thessalonians 1: 11-12
We continue to look at Paul’s prayers. This time to the Thessalonians. We must constantly remind ourselves of our Lord’s faithfulness and His amazing grace which He gives us through Jesus Christ, with the power of the Holy Spirit ministering in our lives. We are not worthy of our calling but He makes us worthy when we respond to His calling through Jesus Christ. This makes it possible for us to have faith and to believe in Him.
Paul prays that the Thessalonians and us may experience Christ’s glory and grace as He reveals this in us. What an unspeakable privilege, but also a profound responsibility that Christ glory and love may shine through our lives and that others in our environment may see something of Jesus as they associate with us.
Paul prays this prayer by concluding, that this may all be possible according to the grace of God through His Son Jesus Christ. This once more emphasizing that our God, through Jesus, is the source of all grace. When we respond to Jesus’ calling, we are directly linked to Our Father God. What a blessing and inspiration! He who invites, enables! He who calls, provides! As followers of Jesus, we hold the responsibility of proclaiming that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose on the third day so as to make it possible for us to be worthy of His calling, grace, love, and power.
Paul in Ephesians says, “By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Prayer
Father God, we thank You, that through Your Son Jesus, You have called us and saved us by Your grace to be Your people. We thank You for the privilege of being called by You. Give us the power to be Your instruments of Your love, so that through our lives we may honour and glorify Your name. We pray this in the glorious name of Jesus. Amen
