Daily Devotion 10 November 2025

From the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and through belief in the Truth.  2 Thessalonians 2 : 13b

Both readings describe how we have been saved from our sins and by whom, by our Father God and His Son, Jesus.  In Isaiah, the prophet speaks about what He is praising God for.  He says that at first God was angry with the Israelites, but He turned away from His anger to comfort and save them from their sins.  A word of praise which should be on all our tongues is, “Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.  The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song.” (vs 2).  Furthermore, Isaiah call us to “Make known among the nations what He has done and proclaim that His name is exalted.” (vs 4b) Paul wrote to the Thessalonians, to stand firm and hold to the teachings, received from him by word of mouth or by letter.  The last two verses of the Thessalonians reading is a prayer from Paul praying that our Lord Jesus and God our Father, by His Grace would strengthen our hearts for every good deed and give us eternal encouragement and hope and strengthen us in all our good deeds and words.   We need to remain focused on God and Christ’s teachings.  One of the ways is to be part of a community of believers where we can learn from one another, pray with and for one another, worship together, engage in interpreting scripture together, support one another and encourage one another in all our ways of spreading the good news about Jesus Christ and God our Father. (Disciplines by the Upper Room)  God is constantly creating and redeeming all of creation.  God comforts, He strengthens and preserves all of creation.

Prayer

Creator of all that is and all that ever will be, we come before You humbly and full of love and praise.  We thank you for Your ongoing love and forgiveness.  May our Lord Jesus Christ comfort and strengthen us through every good word and deed that we do in His Name and to His glory.  Amen.
