God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. - Psalm 46

READING: Psalm 46

“Be still, and know that I am God;

    I will be exalted among the nations,

    I will be exalted in the earth.”

Be still and know that I am God - What a challenge for us today with our hurried schedules and responsibilities. A new year always brings its own hopes and challenges. We have so many people and responsibilities, appointments and duties, jobs and to-do lists vying for our time. Sometimes the problems and fears of the previous year continues into the new year. Health issues, financial worries, the fear of the unknown, not knowing how to proceed forward.

With our attention scattered in so many different directions and on so many things, it can be difficult to slow down enough to focus on God.

Psalm 46 is filled with the wonderful promises that Gods focus is ever on us.

For those who would seek Him, a refuge, a strength, an ever present help in trouble. He is our fortress. In Him there is no fear only peace, love, grace, mercy and forgiveness. He understands out situations, He knows where we are.

He invites us to go through His Word to come and see what the Lord has done.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:24-26

Prayer

Father we praise You for Your love, Your mercy and Your grace

Help us to be still and to know You, to find our peace in You.

Thank you for never leaving us alone. In Your name we pray. Amen
