Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Ephesians 6: 18
There are times in our lives when anxiety and uncertainty are unavoidable. This passage in Philippians gives readers a prescription on how to recover and live through these times. Joseph Scriven says it beautifully in his hymn “What a friend we have in Jesus” (SOF 593)
“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit! O what needless pain we bear!
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our weakness; Take it to the Lord in Prayer.”
Paul writes to the Philippians in verse 6 : “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God” in Psalm145 : 18 we read, “The Lord is near to all who call Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” God has compassion on those who pray to Him and He will always answer these prayers according to His will.
