I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Revelation 22:13

Revelation describes the visions the disciple John had of the second coming of Jesus. In Revelation 22:13, Jesus is identified as the Alpha and the Omega - the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet - He is the first and the last of all, the beginning and the end.

In John 1, we read of Jesus described as the Word; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Our thoughts are lifted to consider that God transcends time, that He always was here and will be forever.

God also describes Himself as One “who is and who was and who is to come” (Revelation 1:4, 8). Long after the present creation passes away, Jesus will still exist because He is eternal. These are wonderful images and expressions of the deity, eternity, infinity, and perfection of Christ. He will complete everything that will be completed, but He will never end. In the end, there is God.

And in John 1:14: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Jesus existed before creation and was with God in the beginning, and, incredibly, He came to earth to bring us closer to our great Almighty God. And by grace, the eternal Son of God bestows eternal life on all who believe on Him (John 3:36; Romans 6:23).

Reading these great passages gives us moments when Christ steps in to walk with us and speaks with us in heavenly melodies, closing the gap between a God that transcends time and our earth-bound lives. He says, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes, take the free gift of the water of life (Revelation 22:17). Jesus is not far distant but close to where we live, walk and work. And He brings into our daily lives His presence His water of life and His heavenly music, if we let Him in.
