He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

2 Chronicles 20:15

We sometimes find ourselves to face seemingly impossible situations. Things appear to be hopeless  and we can see no way out of it.

At times like these we need to hold onto one promise: The battle belongs to the Lord.

God’s Word makes it clear that we will have times of trouble (John 16:33). But the Bible also makes it clear that no matter what we may be facing, God has a plan to help us.

Whatever it is that we are struggling with in our lives,  when we give your battles to the Lord, we are in a position for victory.

King Jehoshaphat was faced with imminent annihilation by the might of the massive approaching enemies. Though he feared the looming threat, he did not allow his fears to paralyze him, but immediately turned to the Lord in prayer, to seek the Lord for comfort and guidance. King Jehoshaphat turned to the Lord because he knew who God was. He declared this  in his opening prayer: acknowledging God’s greatness, recounting  the mighty things He has done for His people.

We should always turn to the Lord first to show that we honor and trust Him.

When we look back on our lives, and recall all the times that the Lord has cared for us, provided, protected, guided and consoled us, when we read the Bible and see from Genesis to Revelation the work of our faithful loving Almighty God, faith fills our heart and drives away fear like nothing else will.

We are totally dependent on God. In John 15:5 Jesus said, …apart from me you can do nothing (NIV)

What a wonderful blessed thought. That we are not dependent on our own strength, intelligence and might. Instead we belong to our Heavenly Father. Everything is in His hands.

When our hearts and minds find peace in Him, our fears turn to praise.

Prayer

Father God, thank You for providing us with strength in every situation. Despite our efforts, we can do nothing on our own. Sometimes we let our fears get the best of us and forget that You are in control. Fill us with peace, strengthen and guide us one day at a time through this season.

Thy Kingdom Come, They will be done

In Jesus’ name we pray

Amen.
