“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10: 15

READING: 2 Corinthians 12: 11-21

These verses from Corinthians are not comfortable to read. Paul, speaking about problems in the Corinth church, reminds us how we should behave as a community. His call goes against the get-ahead ways of the world. Paul calls us to not have self-esteem. It is about not thinking highly of yourself; not taking advantage of others; we should think about the other person’s welfare, not about what we can get out of them. Paul was concerned about the well-being of these Christians, not himself. He said, “So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well” (vs5).

When people come into our company there should be one big difference that they see in us in contrast to elsewhere – that they are treated well, that we look out for their best interests. A genuine concern is shown for them. We must continue to stand apart in these areas, for it is a way to show the truth of God’s word.

In Romans 10:14 and 15 we are reminded that we have a call laid upon us to bring the Good News to others. “And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard?”

Often the best way to share the Good News of Christ’s grace is through serving and loving others as Jesus did.  In this way, our whole lives become a proclamation of the saving grace of Jesus. Others are far more likely to be influenced by our humble acts of love than by our words. And we are reassured that those who bring Good News are beautiful in God’s eyes! (Romans 10:15)

Prayer

Lord Jesus, may I put You first, others next and myself last. Help me to bring Your Good News to those I meet. Thank You for Your love. Amen
