Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.  He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  Jeremiah 17: 7-8

The world bombards us with promises – promises of beauty, popularity, wealth, success, and fame.  But most of the world’s promises are empty and do not last long.  These may be from glitzy advertising on the TV or social media. We can become cynical and lose hope.  Failure to live up to expectations, our own or others, surrounds us on all sides.  BUT, if we turn to God’s Word, the Bible, we will find that it offers us a higher hope and a life filled with God’s presence, which is given to us for free and forever.  We find that God’s promises are true and real and He gives us a peace that passes all understanding.  God is always true and faithful to His Word, even when we lose hope.  God’s precious gift of hope is given to us freely.  We read in 1 Peter 1 : 3, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!  In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”  Hold onto this assurance that our Lord has given you, even if you feel like you have failed by worldly terms.  Grasp this day as a gift from God and live it to the full, glorifying our Father God.  Keep the fire of hope burning in your heart and remember that today and the future are always in God’s hands.  “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15 : 13)

Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for taking our fear and despair and replacing it with Your pure Love and Hope.  Protect and guide us with Your Holy Spirit that we may live our lives worthy of Your calling.  Amen
