I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.  Praise the Lord, O my soul.  Psalm 104: 33, 35b

The Lord God is gracious and loving, this an all-important fact.  It is a truth to sing about, even in days of darkness.  His mercy and love endures forever.  He is our refuge and strength.  He is always present with us.  He understands us and our situations completely.  He is an amazing, forgiving and guiding Father God who lovingly redirects our lives so we may come into a deeper relationship with Him.  His love is so great that He gave His only Son, Jesus, to save the whole world so that we may come into a deeper knowledge of Him, through the forgiveness of our sins and wrongdoing.  His love is so great that He calls us to be His sons and daughters.  He not only loves each and every one of us but He knows us, knows our ways most intimately.  This must surely make us want to walk with Him today and every day right into eternity.  In Romans 11 : 33 we read, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable His judgements, and His paths beyond tracing out!”

When you are facing difficulties and trials or illness or loss, these are the very times you need to praise Him. Then you will experience the wonderful elevating power of this praise and thanksgiving. The simple lifting up of your heart in praise to Him will bring you into His presence and then You cannot help but continue to sing His praise and glory.  You will find a treasure trove of songs of praise in the Psalms to start your praising, of which the two psalms above are an example.  In Exodus 15 : 2a we read, “ The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.  He is my God, and I will praise Him.”  This is an exert from the Song of Moses and Miriam, written sometime after the incredible crossing of the Red Sea on dry ground by the Israelites, fleeing from Egypt and the drowning of the Egyptian warriors afterwards.  In Isaiah 25 : 1 we read, “O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your Name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.”

Prayer

Almighty God, we praise You through Your Son, Jesus Christ.   May Your Name be glorified for all the loving and wonderful things You have done for Your people throughout all the ages.  May everything that has breathe praise Your wonderful Name and Your constant presence in our lives.  Amen
