My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever. - Psam 73:26
READING: Heb 11:1-16
As humans we are often prone to failure. At times, even our greatest efforts collapse into nothing, and at other times, we falter before we begin—failing not through action, but through inaction itself.
Feeling like we are failing isn’t just about falling short of reaching our goals in life. For some of us, failing can be about feeling like we are disappointing God. For example, maybe on Sunday you made a commitment this week to spend time with God each morning this week and it is Thursday and you have not even cracked open your Bible. Or you promised God you would not yell at your kids this week and by Monday morning there was already a meltdown happening in your household and you lost your cool. We fail in our efforts of being faithful to God. Faithfulness is a valuable commodity in every walk of life: in the family, business, friendship, and the church. Yet, tragically, faithfulness is something we are not always good at. The wonderful blessing is that God is ever faithful.
God’s faithfulness shows up in our lives through His constant, steadfast and unchanging love. In John 16:33 we read: I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” It’s hard to be faithful on our own. We need the help of the Spirit of God, who is always faithful.
In Hebrews 11 we find many examples of people who had faith in God and who faithfully believed in God’s promises. Their lives were examples of faithfulness. They knew that they depended on God for everything, and they saw that God faithfully provided for them—even if some of God’s promises were not fulfilled by the time they died.
If you are a person of faith, God calls you to be a person of faithfulness. That is life in the Spirit. The Lord, who is faithful, promises to give us all the faithfulness we need.

Prayer
Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.
We give you thanks Lord, we cling to You,
we praise Your Holy name!
Amen
