Devotion 26 August 2026

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4: 6
READING: Romans 1: 8-12
We look at another prayer of Paul’s, this time for the Romans. He thanks God for their faith which has become widely known. He emphasizes that he serves God whole heartedly through His preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He prays that according to God’s will; he may soon be able to visit them. He longs to see them again and to share some spiritual gifts to make them stronger in their faith. He wishes that he and they may encourage each other by sharing each other’s faith.
In John 14 : 13 – 14, we read a promise of Jesus, “Whatever you ask in my Name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.” In Isaiah we read, “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.”
Through all our prayers and meditations, we need to be sure that we are glorifying God through His Son Jesus, and are seeking His Light to fill our hearts, which in turn should shine through our lives, that others may see this light and come to glorify God.. This light is freely given to us and others, through us, and will reveal to us the knowledge of Jesus Christ’s glory.

Prayer
Show us Your way, O Lord, teach us Your paths; guide us in Your truth and teach us, for You are God our Saviour, and our hope is in You all day long. Amen. (Psalm 25: 4-5)
