You Are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for You created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Revelations 4: 11
READING: John 1: 1-5
Creation of the world and all that was and is in it, was not only a once off occasion but is an ongoing miracle. Little do we realize that the glory and the power and the intricacy of our almighty God can be seen hidden in the many parts that make up a flower. The flower is not only beautiful to the eye, but it has a scent and pollen and has many functions in the life of the plant. The scent or the colour of the flower either attract insects and birds to pollinate them or it distracts them. One can see the beautiful Sunbirds with their many colours and long beaks and the bees all busy around the flowers. In the flower one can see the miracle of creation and can marvel at the power of our creator, as one can see in the beauty of the Sunbird and the Bee who spread God’s creation.
In our reading we are told by John the Apostle, that God or the Word created all things. The Word was God and the Word was Jesus Christ. In Him was life and light and this light shines through each one of us who has accepted Jesus as the Son of God and that He came to earth to reveal God’s light and love to all men, and to offer forgiveness for their sins. We read in Mattthew 5 : 14a + 16, “You are the light of the world. ---- Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify Your Father in heaven.” As believers, by God’s grace in Christ, we are the light of the world. We also read in John15 : 8, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.” So, like the flower, we too in our lives display God’s glory, power, and intricacy.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we praise and thank you for Your wonderful creation. We thank You that we are privileged to be called by You to bear fruit as the plants do and to be Your light in the world and to display Your beauty, all to Your glory. Amen
